What do Mexican tacos have in common with Hungarian cuisine?
Yes, the seasoning is based on paprika! Mixing your own Taco Seasoning is both tastier and healthier than buying ready-made spice mixes in the store. In the long run, it's also kinder to your wallet!
Using Hungarian paprika as a base in spice blends gives both a beautiful color and great flavor! And did you know that paprika is also rich in vitamin C?
Here is our tip for a very simple taco seasoning! Try your hand at varying between sweet , strong or smoked paprika powder .
The recipe is enough for 500g of minced meat of your choice,
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp Hungarian paprika powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander seeds
- salt
- black pepper
Do this:
Mix all the spices and store in an airtight jar, preferably made of tin to retain the flavor. Spices should be stored in a dark and cool place!
or
Powder all the spices directly into the frying pan over the minced meat of your choice together with a small splash of water and let simmer for a few minutes. Paprika powder tastes bitter if it burns, so please lower the temperature in the frying pan once the spices have been added!
